Today's blog is a quick one, I wanted to share a breath practice that I've been doing lately that has been incredibly helpful at all times of the day, whether I'm stressed or not. I've even done this while on video calls, it can be super subtle!
Take a moment and find your seat on the chair or your feet on the floor (yes, you can do this while standing too!)
If you can/feel comfortable close your eyes or find a soft gaze just past the bridge of your nose.
Take a deep breath through your nose into your belly and hold it for a second or 2
Exhale out through your nose (if you want to be discreet), otherwise, let out an audible sigh if you can and relax your shoulders down.
Repeat 2 more times
That's it!
I've been using a habit tracker app since the start of the year and this quick breath practice is set as a reminder 12 times a day, yup, once an hour for 12 hours, every day. Some days, I do it more often! It is super effective and definitely creates a sense of calm and well-being.
Give it a try then let me know in the comments!
Conscious breathing is such an easy but very effective practice. Thanks for the reminder. I'm curious aboutwhich habit tracking app you use.
I did it and will add this to my routine even though I'm like Tamara, I do it without realizing!
I do this a lot without knowing this is "a thing". My watch is not set to remind me as regularly as yours, but when it suggests I should take a moment to be mindful or to breathe, I usually do it. It's as close as I come to meditating.
I’m a great fan of “remembering to breathe” consciously. It makes the difference between automatic vs deliberate awareness. And what a difference it is!
