As you likely know at this point, this month I am participating in a blog challenge where participants are encouraged to post 30 blogs in the 30 days of April. I thought I would break it up with something fun and unrelated to my business today. Let's talk movies!
I LOVE movies, but in the interest of keeping your interest, I'm going to talk about my favorite series, Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. I saw Batman Begins in the theater only twice, but The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises theater viewings are in the double digits, let's just leave it at that. I've never seen a movie in the theater so many times before or since. My AMC Stubs card got A LOT of use and I earned many free treats.
I didn't grow up on comics, in fact, I hadn't read a Batman comic until after I had seen these movies. Why am I so drawn to these movies? Well, for one, they are amazing and two, the themes of these movies spoke to me on a very deep and personal level, it was almost as if each movie was released just in time to give me some incredible insight into my own life. I still learn something new about myself each time I watch them.
These movies deal with 3 themes, fear (Batman Begins), chaos (The Dark Knight), and pain (The Dark Knight Rises.) We all experience moments like these in our lives, it might seem silly to some to see real life in stories like these, but it's there and it's so clear if you're willing to look for it.
I also love Batman because he's a superhero but he's also not. His super powers are his wealth and his willingness to jump out of windows/off tall buildings. Here's a fun 2 minute clip from The Dark Knight Rises.
What's your favorite movie? Why do you love it? Tell me in the comments below.
I watched the LEGO movie featuring "Batman" with my son, does that count? ;-) My favorite movies are (romantic) comedies that include Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, Tom Hanks and Robert de Niro: When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail, Analyze this / that. (Tamara)
I really love movies, but not if they are violent or gory. So no horror flicks or graphic stuff. My all time favorite is “Medicine Man” with Sean Connery. I am also a big Marvel fan, especially “Dr. Strange “ and “Black Panther”. Somehow, the fantasy aspect allows me to tolerate the violence in those films; and the stories are the most important part.
