This month's Full Moon is a special one as it is tied to the Autumnal Equinox as well. This Moon is often called the Hunter's Moon or Blood Moon, as it is the first full moon after the Equinox. These moon names are particularly violent this month, which I didn't care for, so I sought out some other options. I was very happy to find some other options on the Farmers Almanac site. This site also explains that this moon is so typically named Blood or Hunters Moon as this was likely a time when people went out hunting to prepare for the winter. Since most of us, especially those reading a blog such as this, don't live in such areas where that is required, I was glad to find some other names for this lovely Moon.
You can check out the other names on the Farmers Almanac site I included above but I will include my favorite here. Falling Leaves Moon, I can't explain it, those words just seem so beautiful together.
So, how can you harness this Full Moon energy?
It's all about releasing! That really makes Falling Leaves Moon feel even more like the best name!
If you've been around here a while, you'll know that meditation is my go-to for a lot of things, and working with the moon energy is no exception.
So, I invite you over the next few days to sit where you are bathed in moonlight or picture it in your mind's eye and meditate on what this Moon cycle is here to share with you. Is there a lesson? Are you ready to let go of something?
When we let go of what is no longer serving us, this creates space for abundance, to take action, to heal and grow.
Meditating with the Moon
Sit where you can be bathed in the moonlight or imagine the moonlight in your mind's eye
Take 3 deep breaths, you may wish to place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly
As your breath returns to your usual cadence, ask (out loud or in your mind) what is ready to be released. Continue breathing and be open to receiving an answer. This may come as an image, a word, a smell, sound, or even just a feeling. No need to force it, even if nothing comes to you in that moment, you may "stumble upon" an ah-ha in the days to come.
If you wish to incorporate colors, violet is a cleansing color that can help with letting go. Think of the Violet Flame. You may wish to imagine yourself lovingly blanketed in violet, imagine the color pulling away negativity, things weighing on you, that which lo longer serves. Once the violet blanket has absorbed what you need it to, you can pull the blanket off and imagine it igniting into a Violet Flame or you can imagine a Violet Flame into which you can place the blanket.
When you are ready to come out of the meditation begin to deepen your breath once more. Thank you higher self, any guides, the moon...etc. for their assistance. When you're ready, return your breath to its usual cadence and open your eyes.
Take a few moments to journal on your experience.
Check out my blog from July's Full Moon where I touch on Dream Journaling and Making Moon Water!
There is also a Healing Circle scheduled for Sunday, 10/9 at 8pm ET so we can harness this Full Moon energy as a collective. If you've felt the power of the moon on your own, just wait until you're in a group doing it together! Healing Circles always meet via Zoom.
Do you have plans for the Full Moon? Will you try anything here or in my July blog? Let me know in the comments below!
Falling Leaves Moon! WOW! I love this name. I am going to use it at my Full Moon Experience I'm hosting this Sunday in my community. Beautiful. These practices line up so much with mine. <3 Glad to meet someone so similar.
What just popped into my head is how excited I would be to wait for a full moon--because my mother would always wait until then to cut my hair when I was a child.

I so enjoy watching the moon rise! We go down to the ocean when it's a special moon and now I have to try meditating with it, sounds so relaxing. Thanks for the lesson.
I love this so much - cannot wait to try it! I shared your post with my Facebook group.😘
