What's your 5 year plan?

A friend and accountability partner of mine asked me this question yesterday. She was right to ask it too, I don't yet have one. Sure, I have plans, some big, some small, I know certain things I can't wait to stop doing and others I can't wait to do full-time, but as far as where will I be in 5 years? Well, that's not all planned out yet.

I hope if you have a plan in place already that you'll share in the comments something that helped you create that plan and maybe even a piece of what you're planning.

So, here's what I'm going to do.

  1. I wrote "5 year plan" in really big letters in a notebook

  2. Next, I'll do a brain dump, probably more than once. I'll likely schedule 15 minute sessions and set a timer (the timer helps me stay focused) I will include both my business and personal goals.

  3. I'll sit down with my husband and find where our goals or words from our brain dumps overlap. We have decided we need some new shared relationship/life goals so we'll use this time to come up with some of those.

  4. I'll start looking at what I want in place by year 5, then start to work back from there. I'll figure out the steps I need to take and how long I expect to spend on these steps. Then, I'll break everything down into manageable bits.

  5. Of course, I'll leave room for things to change

  6. During all of this, I'll also be meditating on various things, taking a good hard look at the meaning of life for me, is what I'm doing really giving me that life? If not, what needs to change to get me there?

One of my dreams is to own a small vegan bed & breakfast. I already have the name picked out, I can see the house in my head, even the sign at the start of the driveway welcoming my guests. It will have a common room where I can hold reiki circles and offer various classes. These classes can be a way to bring the community together as they will be open not just to guests but community at large. Just a few thoughts...I'm excited to see where the next 5 years takes me, let's get to planning!

As I mentioned above, be sure to tell me in the comments about your 5 year plan (if you have one.) If you don't have one, will you join me on this adventure and get started on one?

With caregiving and other life events, I haven’t made a 5 year plan. But this year I have been able to do a one year strategy at least! With my husband’s retirement later this year, a five year plan will be a must.

My 5 year plan is to take my online business and be totally independent with it! Oh my, and to have my physical school rescuing animals (not just dogs- although everyone equates me with dogs) and veterans to be able to live the lives they were meant to be....That's it in a nutshell....I'm still kinda working on my vision board but I'll get there soon!

Visualizing your goal, like your B&B, is a great help to achieve your dream!

Ugghhh, 5-year plan, where do you see yourself in x amount of years,..?

I have the hardest time coming up with anything.

I want to be happy – that’s what I always say in a non-business environment. Meaning I’m already happy and want to keep it that way. I like my family and friends, I have a job, a house, I’m healthy. If something comes up that gives me a hard time, I tackle it. Do I need a plan for that? Your vision sounds lovely, and I am confident you will get there :-)

Ha! That's usually my response to such a question too, Tamara! I think it landed differently for me because she's a trusted friend, not some interviewer for a job I may or may not want lol

I love that and think wanting to be happy is a wonderful goal. Sounds to me like you already have a plan, you wrote it out in your comment. 😃

Thank you so much for you encouraging words! 💚
